Fasting YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was forcibly shifted to NIMS

Fasting YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was forcibly shifted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) late on Wednesday night after his health deteriorated.
Earlier in the day, a team of doctors from Osmania General Hospital advised him to call off his five-day-old fast after his blood sugar levels dropped and ketone bodies reached alarming levels.
With Mr. Jagan disregarding the doctors’ advice and continuing the fast, the police descended on the hunger strike venue near the party’s office at Lotus Pond and shifted him to a waiting ambulance at around 11 p.m.
Police barricaded the roads leading to the hunger strike camp to prevent slogan shouting YSRCP activists from reaching the camp even as they made a vain bid to prevent the police from shifting Mr. Jagan. Police reportedly advised the authorities at the hospital to immediately administer IV fluids to the fasting leader. Meanwhile, Mr. Jagan’s mother, Y.S. Vijayamma reached the hospital along with other party leaders.
Senior YSRC leader Konathala Ramakrishna accused the government of acting in a dictatorial manner by shifting Mr. Jagan. This was second time in a month that Mr. Jagan took up indefinite fast to protest against the Centre’s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.(The Hindu - 10th Oct 2013)http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/jagan-shifted-to-nims/article5219545.ece
